An English professor at Skidz will tell you that the title of this post is an example of an oxymoron...an impossibility outside of the relm of prose and idiotic food items (jumbo shrimp) We have this thing for Audrey Hepburn... well come on, who doesn't? Here, Jaclyn c/o 2010 is reviving that classic Breakfast at Tiffany's slick look; she's holding her sweet (albeit porky) cat Audrey Hepburn (no doubt named after Jac's favorite actress) and she looks positively divine in her up-do and wonderful, chunky beaded necklace. We were just wondering if the cat was going to go along with her when she went out...That's one accessory that can't be matched. In the photos below, Jaclyn wears another LBD (little black dress) in an entirely different way. The sexy, exposed back and strapy sandals are the modern version of the timeless look she's adopted above. Add Comment It's the day after classes have ended for the semester, and everyone is out enjoying a bit of fresh air. But when we say out, we mean outside of the library...or case, or one of the many buildings that house this year's Academic Festival. It seems that everyone is juuuuussstttt not ready to commit to study week, and with good reason. It's 80 degrees and sunny right now, and classes are finally over. Everyone's looking tired and stylish under the sun. It makes even the busiest bee smile as she sits in the library writing about how great people look in their (almost) summer garb. It can be so terribly irksome to see someone that you think is undeniably attractive in a relationship with someone who is..well...not. This is definitely not the case with Sander c/o 2011 and Jaclyn c/o 2010, both of whom are all dressed up for date night. Jaclyn's dress fits her like a glove, and the bottom half matches Sander's black pants in a way that doesn't say "we see too much of each other, we didn't mean to match", but rather says "we belong together." And because we know you're all wondering...yes, that is a beer-pong table in the bottom left of the photo. Yup, they're just keeping it classy...remember, they look great, but they are still in college! But we guess that's the point of canned caviar...isn't it. Spotted: in the same slate-blue denim pants that he wore yesterday, strutting around in delicious Lucchesse 1883 cowboy boots: The man. The legend. Feudi c/o 2011. We'll admit, sometimes its not okay to wear the same thing every day (if only because you run the risk of, shall we say, aroma), but when it comes to a great pair of jeans like these (bdg @ Urban Outfitters) we'll admit that this is more than okay... it's just perfect. Feudi manages to rock the same pants everyday, and they haven't a stain on them (that's more than impressive for an art major). We love how confidently and casually Feudi tosses his white-blond locks aside, pocky stick in his mouth (a nod to the straw in a mouth of a cowboy, we think), and sighs, "Yeah I need to wash these". This nugget's ensemble is a Grade A example of how careful selection is the key to building the most versatile wardrobe. And denim is the God of versatility. When buying a new pair of jeans, pay close attention to fit, fabric quality and stretchiness. Try and picture how the jeans will wear, or rather, how they might evolve in fit and form after multiple washings. You may even want to consider investing a little more money in denim or other pieces you can foresee yourself reaching for repeatedly. What makes this particular outfit a winner is the combination of Western-friendly dusky colors and faded leather, with the v-necks and well-grooming of a more collegiate vision. We love, love, love the shape of the raspberry deep-V (American Apparel) meeting an even deeper-V'd cashmere sweater. It's much like this gray day in spring, during which it's not quite warm enough to rock a t-shirt alone, but certainly not time to reach under the bed for the coat you just put away. And who cares if those glasses are prescription, you look good to us. ![]() We spotted Sam c/o 2011 outside of case center, reading and looking effortlessly cool in black courderouy pants from The Gap. A white tee shirt worn with black pants is perhaps the simplest of pairings, but a little attention to detail and fit (look how great the cut of his jeans is) is the ticket to chictown. We especially like the black chuck high-tops and matching black socks. Thank you sir, for kindly reminding us that fashion decision can be easy as...black and white. Sarah, c/o 2011 is ready for the sunshine. Fully clad in floral, she reminds us why we bother to wait around through months of grueling winter....glorious spring! Some students invite the sunny weather by exposing a little skin, which has long lost the summer luster it wore to campus in September. Sarah, on the other hand, seems to take "spring appreciation week" (what we're now calling the first week of returning good weather at Skidmore) more literally. From Forever 21, her minidress with a sweetheart neckline is drenched in a tiny floral pattern, and her leather handbag, a gift from her surprisingly style savvy boyfriend, has a facade sculpted into the shape of a rose. She has, no doubt, become the envy of the garden. We have been waiting for the day when Eliza c/o 2011 could wear this delightful number in public. It's been cold, yes, so she had previously worn this only to romp around her house. Lucky for us, she's finally let the world know how awesome a jumpsuit romper from the 80's can be. This has to be one of the cooler rompers we've seen, and it's not only vintage, but a hand-me-down. Romp on, sister, romp on...just one question...whachya got in that brown paper bag? We wish we had a better picture of this one for you guys, but sunbathers can hardly be prompted to engage in much movement. If anyone ever tells you that moo-moos aren't cool, they are obviously clueless. Saya c/o 2011 charms us with this 1950's house wife-esque moo-moo, for which her short hair is a wonderful complement to the overall look. The effect is half authentic, half ironic. Perhaps we shall see more Moo-Moos in the herd, n'est pas? The weather this past week was a bummer to say the least-- rain, hail, even frost. But poor weather won't keep Skidmore students from being their usual stylish selves! Here, five examples of fiercely fashionable rain-resistant boots show that April showers don't just bring flowers, they bring out the fashion devotees. This is your new blog post. The other day Ani wrote a segment in "the every day" section of our site on the subject of Blair Waldorf's mochalicious confection in a scene from the CW's Gossip Girl. Normally, one might assert that brown is an autumnal color, but clearly at this boundery-pushing establishment, the rules do not apply. In the very least, it's obvious, from only one full day of campus sun, that touches of brown work their way seamlessly into the spring wardrobe. Cheers to that! We can enjoy chocolate any day of the week....it's an aphrodisiac and it's mating season...so let's get it on (the color brown we mean, of course). Images: Peter c/o 2010 (top left/ top middle) is never lost with this wonderful treasure. There is nothing more fantastic than a great find like this brown leather bag, lined with an antiquey map print. In fact, his whole outfit merges ease and put-togetherness in an especially stylish way. His color palette is beachy and clean, and we love the cuffed pants, which seem to say, "it's a beautiful day, let's walk by the bay, I've got my map handy so let's get randy-dandy!" Or, you know, something like that Catherine c/o 2011, Sophie c/o 2010, Eliza c/o 2011(middle), Wick c/o 2010 (botton/ bottom left) |
